YOUNTVILLE, Napa County — Residents and businesses can find Yountville’s standing water-conservation regulations in the town’s official Water Conservation Plan, separate from temporary emergency measures that may change with drought conditions.
The town cites municipal code provisions prohibiting water waste, including fountains without recirculating water, washing vehicles with a hose that has no shutoff nozzle, and lawn or garden watering that creates excessive runoff into gutters or water spray onto nearby hard surfaces.
Are drought restrictions in effect?
The town website also links to an earlier council action lifting Phase II water-shortage emergency restrictions. An older notice about lifting restrictions is not proof of the current drought stage. Residents should use the latest town announcement and the current municipal code before changing watering practices.
Practical steps
Adjust sprinklers so they do not water sidewalks, promptly repair leaks and use a shutoff nozzle for permitted outdoor washing. Residents uncertain about an exception or restriction can contact the town’s Public Works Department.
