YOUNTVILLE, Napa County — The Town of Yountville has described a new system intended to alert drivers when stormwater reaches the Oak Circle roadway during heavy rain. In an August 2026 project update, officials said the Oak Circle Spillway Alert System was nearing completion.
Under the design described by the town, a stream gauge at Oak Circle will connect to Napa Valley’s OneRain network and activate roadside warning beacons. A flashing yellow beacon is designed to mean water is entering the road and caution is needed. A flashing red beacon means the water is too deep for vehicles to pass safely.
Remote monitoring
The town also notes existing stormwater cameras that can help people assess creek conditions without driving to a flood-prone intersection. The project appears in the town’s capital-improvement program as DF-0022.
What motorists need to know
The August update said completion was approaching; it did not establish that all equipment would be operational by November. Follow current town advisories and posted closures in a storm. Never attempt to drive across flooded pavement or through a red warning beacon.
